Postdoc in Experimental Gravitational-Wave Physics

The University of Mississippi invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the area of experimental gravitational-wave physics.

The position is initially for one year, and is renewable for at least a second year contingent on satisfactory performance. The postdoctoral scholar funded by this position will be based at the LIGO Livingston Observatory and will contribute to interferometer commissioning and the study of the seismic isolation system in relation to interferometer sensing and control. 

The applicant must have (or be close to completing) a Ph.D. in Physics, with a good track record in one or more of the following research areas: laser interferometry, suspensions, inertial sensors, noise analysis or control theory.

The Gravitational Physics Group at the University of Mississippi is active in various areas of theoretical and experimental gravity, and is part of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. Permanent faculty in the group include Emanuele Berti, Luca Bombelli, Marco Cavaglia and Katherine Dooley, as well as postdocs and several graduate students. The postdoctoral scholar funded by this position will work with Professor Katherine Dooley and must be able to work in an extended collaboration.
